Infrastructure Design

Should you be at the start or looking to replace aspects of your current infrastructure, we can help you avoid the pitfalls of infrastructure design by taking the time to calculate your existing and future needs. Time spent getting the initial stages correct will serve your organisation well until your model significantly changes. Whether you require brand new or refurbished technology we will source, install and configure a solution that is tailored to your budgetry and technical requirements.

After we conclude our investigation we will design a solution based on your requirements. The final report may contain more than one infrastructure solution based on a new design or a modification of your existing design. Where we can incorporate and reuse elements of your existing infrastructure we will. You will be able to tweak the report to increase your budget into areas you feel are more important to your organisation.

Once the report and the prescribed design solution is agreed it must be signed off by the project sponsor. At this point you are free to take the report elsewhere to implement the solution or allow us to implement the solution on your behalf.

The infrastrucure design fees will be discounted should Progressive Apse become the preferred supplier to implement the designed solution. View Service Options & Fees.

Infrastructure Design Elements

Current System

We review your current infrastucture in terms of staff roles, access rights, existing technology, technology failings, control panels, domain names, storage and backup procedures.

Physical Devices

The new design will make use of your existing servers, computers and network devices where possible. However, new and/or refurbished technology may be recommended to replace out-dated technology.

Software Requirements

Windows and Mac OS operating systems will be considered depending on familarity. We may recommend a mixture of your existing software, freeware and paid software to meet your requirements.

Future Requirements

We look not only at the failings of your existing systems but also at where you see your organisation in the near future. Using this information a scalable design can be achieved.

Virtual Devices

Virtual technology is an excellent option these days. Instead of powering up several physical servers you may need only one powerful host to create a number of virtual servers and desktops accessible by LAN and VPN.

Data Storage

A key element of any design. Depending on your needs, network storage devices with the appropiate RAID and capacity will be recommended to meet your demand for ongoing business and data backup cycles.

Networking Requirements

The designed solution covers all networking aspects from cabling, routers, switches, hubs, WAPs, and IP telephony. We may also recommend broadband suppliers and cloud telephony vendors.

Cloud Applications

It may be a desire to save on the cost of physical servers and software licences and use cloud services. Microsoft's Office 365 is a good example of using online subscription based software and storage options.
