Servers & Workstations
All servers and workstations whether physical or virtual will require ongoing maintenance. We offer both remote and onsite support to keep your systems up to date and functioning efficiently. Windows and MacOS devices are comprehensively checked to have the latest OS and driver updates. Where necessary anti-virus and malware scans are performed, and any infections reported and dealt with. Integrity and optimisation checks on RAM and SDD/HDD drives are also carried out as well as keeping bespoke software up to date.
It may be necessary to rebuild the operating system on an existing server or workstation if an infection cannot be confidently dealt with so this service is also offered.

Servers & Workstations Servicing
Workstation Rebuild
Hard disk failure, virus infections, faulty operating system upgrades may lead to your workstation requiring a rebuild. We will back up and restore your personal data where possible before re-installing the operating system and any licenced software including all historical updates.
Workstation Configuration
Purchasing a new or rebuilding an existing workstation will require configuration for your domain or peer to peer environment. Removal of administration rights is usually necessary to prevent malicious or accidental software installation. User accounts, network printers and devices, email and other software may be required.
Windows/MacOS Upgrade
Periodically Microsoft and Apple will release updates for their operating systems. They will recommend that is done automatically to make sure your device always has the latest security patches. This is reasonable but, in our experience, updates have been released that have caused more issues than they have solved so we recommend a controlled update to make sure existing systems do not break. As part of this service, we will test updates independently before releasing them on to computers.
Device Drivers
It is important to keep device drivers up to date. As part of a regular service, we will check update all device drivers on your computer to make sure they are operating efficiently.
Server Rebuild
In the event of a commissioned Windows server requiring a rebuild we can either restore it from a known backup or rebuild the Domain Controller, Active Directory, VPN server and the File server from scratch. We can create the user and device accounts along with logon scripts and/or Group Policy Objects.
Virtual Servers
Virtualization technology is part of modern business with the main players being Hyper-V and VMWare. If you are using or considering the use of virtualised servers, we can create and maintain virtual servers as your organisation demands. In most cases a powerful and well-resourced physical host is required to maintain the virtual servers. Our client base as shaped us to be familiar with VMware's vSphere ESXi and vClient tools.
Security Software
Clicking on random popups, downloading infected emails, website tracking cookies, using external storage devices that have not been scanned can render your computer useless. Whether free or paid it is extremely important to have security software installed on your computer to combat viruses and malware. Local firewalls may also be helpful in the absence of or in tandem with a network firewall. These will be checked, and scans performed as part of any computer service.
Hardware Upgrade
Performance issues, the need for more capacity and power, hardware failures and other damage will necessitate the need to up upgrade your hardware. We can appraise, source, recommend, purchase, and install hardware components.
Server Configuration
Depending on the type of Windows server requiring configuration, we can install server roles, storage quotas, access rights, remote access protocols, backup cycles etc. There are many configurations a server can be set up for which will greatly depend on your requirements.
Virtual Desktops
As with Virtual Servers we can create and maintain as many virtual desktops as you require licences for. Each virtual machine can be any one of several supported guest operating systems including Windows and MacOS. The obvious advantage is maintenance, scalability, and device independence as you are essentially connecting to a virtualized environment. You can be anywhere in the world and still remote into your office desktop.
